The Roots of the Epic
Château d'Escabes was certainly built during the 17th century, based on the characteristics of its architecture and the shape of the surviving gun slots. The date 1665 inscribed on a brick of the south-east tower could date the construction of the château.

A historical and viticultural transition
Château d'Escabes has been owned by the HAUCHARD family since 1974. Albert, the father of the family, fell in love with the place and made it, alongside his industrial activity, “his workshop” for his passions: wine, nature, decoration and architecture.
A bold reconstruction
In 1989, a fire ravaged the region's most emblematic château. A large part of the building was devastated, and the work involved in rebuilding it was colossal. But this event did not discourage owner Albert Hauchard. On the contrary, as an art lover, free thinker and insatiable builder, he saw it as an opportunity to express his creativity. From the fire was born a new playground dedicated to his free expression, nourished by a genuine passion for beauty. A true aesthete, his creativity also led him to completely redesign the gardens. Numerous species were planted: alongside the historic cedars, Florentine cypresses opened up beautiful perspectives. A collection of magnificent palms, as varied as they are precious, add an unashamedly exotic touch to this.

The adventure begins again
From 1974 to 1993, the HAUCHARD family marketed the Château's wines exclusively in France. Then, their main industrial activity (direct mail) forced them to withdraw from running the estate. They signed a long-term lease with the Rabastens cooperative until 2017, when the HAUCHARD family (Colette, Albert and their 3 sons) took over management of the estate. They immediately converted the vineyard to organic farming, with the aim of restarting the adventure, commercial activities in France (on the various networks), export, and the parallel objective of developing oenotourism offers to share this place and the Occitan Tuscan atmosphere that reigns there and the fruits of this environment.
